About the Competition

Singing competition “Vera Kovač Vitkai” was held for the first time in November 2014 at “Isidor Bajić” Music School in Novi Sad. Honorary member of the jury was prima donna herself, Professor MA Vera Kovač Vitkai.

Competition rules

General provisions

  • Applications for the 9th International Competition shall be submitted on the 1st. of December 2022, to the following page: REGISTRATION PAGE.
  • The application can be filled out on-line.
  • It is necessary to attach a certificate of payment of donation and a photocopy of a birth certificate (for foreign citizens a photocopy of a passport.
  • Confirmation of payment of donation as well as a photocopy of a birth certificate (for foreign nationals a photocopy of a passport) should be mailed to the organizer address or to e-mail.
  • Fee includes one rehearsal. All competitors are required to pay their own travel expenses, food and accommodation.
  • Warning: In case of cancellation by the contestant, no submitted materials and donations will be returned.
  • The organizer reserves the right to cancel individual stages or the entire competition, unless a sufficient number of competitors.
  • The program is performed by heart for all categories (except for chamber ensembles), and in original language for III, IV, V and VI category.
  • Program changes will not be allowed.
  • The program is submitted in original language.
  • The order works in the program and singing repetitions in particular pieces is decided by the competitor.
  • Female and male voices within the same category are specifically evaluated.
    In the fourth and fifth categories, the stages are not eliminative. Each stage is evaluated separately, and the final score is the median score of both stages.
  • Competitors must be able to present the publication of sheet music used for the preparation of performance per request by the organizer.
  • The organizer reserves the right to produce and public audio visual materials. Participants will waive all rights, such as royalties or any other rights in relation to the use of music and video material in relation to their participation and / or musical performance during the competitions and events that accompany the competition. Organizer reserves the right to public music and / or video recordings on CD, DVD and the Internet. Organizer will not be responsible for any injury of participants and equipment at disposal to participants during the competition. By joining the contest, the candidate or his guardian accept all the rules set forth in these provisions.
  • The drawn letter will determine the starting sequence of performance at all stages of the competition and all categories.
  • Competitors at arrival to the competition must register with the Secretariat of the Competition (in accordance to the competition calendar).
  • Registered competitors will be provided the list of hotels list with a price list and accommodation options.
  • Organizer may book chosen hotel per competitor’s request.
  • First-prize winners (at all categories) must be available to the organizers of the competition in case of any performance immediately after the competition. Otherwise, competitor may loose the won prize.
  • The performance in this case is fee free and singers are not entitled for the honorary payment.

A DONATION for the competition is

  • 40 EUR for foreign citizens for I and II category
  • 45 EUR for foreign citizens for III and IV category
  • 50 EUR for foreign citizens V and VI category
  • 50 EUR for foreign citizens duets and chamber ensembles

Prizes

  • GRAND PRIX competitions can be awarded to one competitor.
  • SPECIAL AWARDS “For the youngest competitor”, “For the most promising singer” “and others.
  • Awards and diplomas will be awarded at the ends of the competition category after the results are announced. The organizer of the competition will not subsequently send diplomas.
  • Garand Prix, Special Prizes will be announced at the final concert.
  • The final concert program is determined by the jury obased on competition
  • At the end of the competition day, a round table with the members of the jury and the contestants who performed that day can be organized.
  • All participants of the competition will receive a diploma of participation.

Jury

  • The jury of the “Vera Kovac Vitkai” competition consists of prominent singers and professors.
  • Work and jury sessions are open to the public.
  • The jury will work according to Rule Book of the “Vera Kovac Vitkai” competition.
  • Rule Book will be made available to any interested individual.
  • For the purpose of suggesting further development initiatives, each competitor will be allowed to contact members of the jury, according to the organized schedule.
  • Eliminated competitors are not allowed any contact with the members of the jury outside of the organized schedule, till the end of the competition.
  • The jury decisions are final.
